My main goal I made for myself this semester was to try new things. Overall, I can safely say I achieved this goal. First, I went out of my comfort zone as a photographer and used myself as my own subject. This was definitely difficult for me because I had not had much experience directing someone else to take my photo. However, I ended up loving most of my finished products. This was my first lesson in trying new things. Throughout the semester I was continually challenged with new subjects, new lighting choices, and new locations that I had never tried before. This year was especially different because for the last few months of school we weren't even able to be in the actual building, so I had to get even more creative. I ended up making my own mini studio in my dining room, which I used the rest of the year. I completed my favorite assignment using this mini studio, product photography. I loved it because I got to take pictures of my favorite thing, food. It felt like I was doing a professional photo shoot even though I was in my own house. Throughout this whole semester, I realized that I am capable of a lot more than I thought and that I don't necessarily need the perfect pre-made set up to make amazing images; sometimes the best photos come out of the most unexpected circumstances.

I enjoyed this assignment because I got to be very creative and share something about myself. It was hard to imagine how the photo would turn out when I was gathering items to use so I struggled a bit with deciding what to choose. It was hard to lay everything out in the right way to fill all of the space without it being cluttered.

This assignment was a lot of fun to experiment with. It was fun to play with shadows and see what I wanted on my final image. The difficult side of this assignment was the silhouette image. It was tricky to set up, but I am happy with the final result.
